Read More...We chose to grow this selection of Crimson Pygmy over twenty-five years ago; originally selected at Moretti Nursery in Ohio decades before that. It is a very uniform cultivar that has a dense, compact habit. New growth is bright crimson-red fading to a dark burgundy-maroon. It is brighter red than Concorde.

A petite mound of velvety dark purple leaves if grown in full sun. Small yellow flowers in the spring stand out against the intense purple background. It hasn’t produced more than a few seeds in twenty years in our garden. Selected at Wavecrest Nursery in western Michigan.
