Syringa 'Miss Kim'

Manchurian Lilac

#1 Pot - 6/tray

Miss Kim’ started out as a dwarf seedling from seed collected high in the Korean mountains on Veterans’ Day 1947 by Professor E.M. Meader. The smallest seedling germinated had dark green leaves and wavy margins that remained free from mildew all summer. In autumn, the leaves turn a brilliant burgundy red. The fragrant flowers are about a week later than ‘James Macfarlane’, purple in bud, but fade to a blue-ice whiteness before senescing. ‘Miss Kim’ was introduced in 1954 by the New Hampshire Agricultural Experiment Station.
